Question Becker Monza Group Buy - Interest

As most of you know I have replaced my head unit with a Becker Monza and swapped the faceplate so it appears completely stock looking (albeit white, not green) yet plays MP3 CD's along with having an Aux-in port for my iPod.

I am willing to provide the following service if we can get enough people interested. Five (5) is the minimum but if we can get 10 people the price goes even lower. These are expensive head units... however I have found a company willing to send them to me, at a discount. The "gotcha" is the shipping costs from the UK and then back to you as the customer.

For five (5) people the price not including shipping of the finished radios to you from me (you can use Vista, CA 92081 for calculation purposes and about 9 lbs) is $757.50
Here's a breakdown of the costs:
Monza 7889 Green or 7882 White - $532.50
Shipping from UK - $45.00
Labor to swap faceplate and test - $100.00
Antenna adapters - $35.00
Aux-In & Ground Loop Isolator - $45.00

Without the Aux-In and Ground Loop Isolator the total is $712.50. Although I'm not sure why you'd do all this and not want the Aux-in...

Okay... that IS a lot of money... so what do you get for your $100.00. I will carefully swap the silver Crossfire faceplate and test the radio to ensure its proper functionality. I will also maintain and coordinate any warranty issues. These radio's are brand new and do come with a one-year warranty and since I will be purchasing them I have no problem handling any issues, less shipping of course. You will receive back from me two complete radios, the new Monza with the silver faceplate and your old radio, fully functional with the Becker black faceplate. Please note, the Becker Monza and the Crossfire head unit, while physically identical; the two corner buttons perform different functions. Once the faceplate has been swapped the eject button is actually the on/off switch and the “Man” button is the CD eject button.

For ten (10) people the price not including shipping of the finished radios to you from me (you can use Vista, CA 92081 for calculation purposes and about 9 lbs) is $712.50
Here's a breakdown of the costs:
Monza 7889 Green or 7882 White - $492.50
Shipping from UK - $40.00
Labor to swap faceplate and test - $100.00
Antenna adapters - $35.00
Aux-In & Ground Loop Isolator - $45.00

Without the Aux-In and Ground Loop Isolator the total is $667.50. Again, I'm not sure why you'd do all this and not want the Aux-in...

Added bonus; I received an email from Dension, the makers of the ICE-->Link Plus iPod adapter and for another $200.00 you could connect your iPod to the Becker Monza and control it with the head unit, kind of like it was a CD changer except they said it would display the song information on the head unit.

Please post any questions or if you are interested and to what degree.

Edit: The radio price may fluctuate depending on currency conversion rates
Edit 2: If anyone is wondering, I bought my Becker Monza off eBay, used. Total price with shipping was just under $500.00.
Edit 3: Sorry, forgot antenna adapters.... they have been added

Thanks

Email from a second source, prices are higher for radio's;

The quote goes as follows :

5 Becker Monza headunits ( both the 7882 and 7889 are the same price ) :
$2855.66

10 Becker Monza Headunits ( both 7882 and 7889 are the same price ( :
$5711.32

Shipping is as follows :

Air courier : $188.37 for 5 units
$339.54 for 10 units

This would equate to $3044.03 for 5 units delivered, and $6050.86 for 10
units delivered.

All exchange rates are correct as of 11.30 UK time.

This is a discount of $126.64 for 5 shipped items, and $253.28 for 10 items
delivered.

I hope these prices are in keeping with what you had hoped ?

Thank you for your interest again, and if there is anything else we can help
with please do not hesitate to contact me.

Many thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Kindest Regards

Richard
This would increase the price by $39.50 on the 5 radio group buy and $79.50 on the 10 radio group buy. Why am I posting this update? I wanted everyone to know that the price for the radio is really quite good.

It looks like there isn't very much interest, which is cool. Just to be clear though, I have no problem if someone else buys all the hardware / material. I will still do the swap for $100.00 maybe even $75.00 if that's all I'm going to do, regardless of "who" buys "what". When I started looking for Becker Monza head units the lowest price I could find was around $580.00 to $600.00 (currency conversions) without shipping and handling.

Post a reply even if you think its way too much money, at least then I'll know what people are thinking and can let the dealer know the sale won't go through. It's all good, thanks!

I'm interested in doing the swap. However, i'm hoping that i can find a good deal on a used/new head unit. That surely would sweeten the deal for me.

If someone in Germany would do the head unit deal, then i think our starting price would be lower. Possibly $450 per brand new unit. $400 would be something to shoot for though...

Greg, are you going to try that iPod link to control your iPod from your stock radio? I wonder if it is user friendly or not.

Thanks,
John.

Hey John,

Let me know if you find lower prices, that would indeed be cool.

I'm not sure about that ICE-Link. Where I mounted my iPod it is way too easy to just use the buttons to control playback. If I was to relocate it, to say hide it then I would indeed consider the ICE-Link. That's really about all I can say is a nuisance with my current setup. Whenever we go out, movies, shopping, etc I've got to disconnect the iPod and stow it out of sight. I usually leave it right in the car while at work (sometimes bring it in with me to listen to it) and leave it in place when I park in my garage at night.

Sounds like a great idea, but it's more than I would want to spend. Have you contacted any of the dealers in the US?

SW Stereo (http://www.swstereo.com/) has the 7882 for $549+$15 shipping. That would save a few bucks over getting them from the UK. Plus they might give a group discount.

C_Plunkett

Very cool... from what I've been told by Becker NA is that they don't sell head units in the US anymore. SW Stereo is a decent price but my UK guy @ $492.50 + $40 shipping is a better deal. I will indeed email SW Stereo to see if they are willing to offer a discount and if they can get the 7889 (green) model.

Thanks!

Edit: Email has been sent...

No problem at all... check out the post above, you might want to call and snag one of the two 7889's for $500.00! I'll still do the swap and stuff for you.
