Kenwood D558BT
Kenwood D558BT
Hello All,
Just starting off by mentioning that this forum has been my number 1 resource when it comes to my recently purchased Crossfire. I'm finally upgrading to an aftermarket radio, and i'm running into a bit of an issue. I've searched near and far for the answer, and i'm sure its fairly simple, but I wanted a definite answer before going any further.
I purchased the Kenwood D558BT and am attempting to install it. I also bought the Metra 70-1786 harness, due to the Schosche brand not being in stock at any of the stores near me. I ran into a problem with matching up the wires correctly. I have read that there is no need to interchange the yellow and red wires, so I think i'm good there. The issue i'm having involves matching up the Orange wire from the Metra harness to the Kenwood, which has no Orange wire coming from it. The wire labels were also removed from the Kenwood's wires, so i'm clueless as to what should be labeled as what. After matching up the red, black, and yellow wires from each, there is an orange wire remaining from the Metra, and two wires from the Kenwood which are blue and blue/white. There is a brown wire coming from the Kenwood, but i'm sure that it is the Mute wire, which I don't think I need.
I have tried hooking it up a couple of different ways, and although I get the display to come on, I still get no sound. I have also been through the options screen on the Kenwood to see if there were any settings that were muted. I am in a 2004 CF with the 2 door speakers and 2 rear subs... Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Kenwood D558BT
Hi,
I'm torn between the Kenwood 558 and 308 units. Main difference is pre-outs. 558 has loads and 308 only one. As I have no intention to replace the stock amp, do I need the extra pre-outs on the 558 ? Also, I seem to remember that the OEM amp requires direct speaker outputs to drive it ? If correct, no requirement for pre-outs ?
Are the speakers behind the seats subs or just basic bass speakers ?
Mick
