Radio shuts off
Radio shuts off
I have a '05 Limited. While driving with the radio on, the R speaker quit working. This went on for about 10 or so minutes, then the entire sound went away. The radio was still on. I could change stations, etc., but no sound. Turned it off for a while, no help.
Next day, turned it on and radio works ok. I do not have my radio on much, but I believe the previous owner did. (judging by the wear on the volume ****)
A coupel of questions:
Is this the radio or the remote amplifier?
Should I bother with repair, or just get a new unit. If I get a new unit, do I need to get a head unit and an amplifire?
I have the capacitors for the speaker mod, but have not done anything yet. Should I proceed, or wait until this radio problem plays itself out.

A. It could be 1 of 2 things... Wiring or the Radio. Speakers do not normally just go on and off. Wiring could be the culprit, but it seems VERY unlikely.
B. The radio is notorious for problems. I had the premium nav version and would fight with it constantly. It would not play sound, not change stations, eat CDs, and stay on when the car was off... I replaced it and every symptom went away...
C. If you buy a headunit, a 50watt x 4 channel amplified headunit will do perfectly, and you will not lose function of your amplifier (under passenger foot rest). In fact, the sound in my car was BETTER after replacing the stock headunit. I bought JVC KD-S100 CD Receiver w/ Bongiovi Acoustics DPS Technology Head Unit: KD-S100 Advanced Car Stereo (it was on sale for like 200 back in the day sooo dont buy this 1.... anything from 100-200dollars will do nicely.)
D. Have questions? I got answers.. maybe?
