Driver side speaker is pop-pop-popping
Driver side speaker is pop-pop-popping
I just drove my crossfire to the airport, and when i arrived at underground parking, i could hear my drivers side door speaker making a popping noise, like pop corn.
I'm not the type to listen to overly loud music, or turn the bass up, but it seems like this speaker is trying its hardest to blow itself out.
I turned down the stereo volume, the loud popping sound remains the same. I turned off the stereo entirely, and the speaker just keeps popping. It's a pretty loud sound, almost makes the car undrivable. I'm debating having it towed from the airport.
Anyone know if here is some kind of fuse somewhere i can pull that will totally power off the stereo system? Trying to drive this thing to the dealer 60kms is likely going to blow out my ear drums. Shame too, the car has just 19,000km on it with zero other problems.

Re: Driver side speaker is pop-pop-popping
Do i need any special tool to remove this access panel?
I'm sitting at the airport right now, waiting for a flight back. If i could unplug the speaker or somehow pull a fuse for the amp, that would make the car drivable, but i don't have any special tools in my trunk.
Thanks for your helpful post, by the way.

Re: Driver side speaker is pop-pop-popping
Thanks. I pulled the fuses and was able to drive it home.
I have an aching feeling it's the stock amp going out. Was going to buy a new head unit this week anyway, might as well add an amp and speakers to the list.
My name is Cody too, by the way.

I had same thing happen to me on the passenger side. Very loud poping. I was spraying anti meldew and air freshener in my airducts and I think I got too much in the wrong place. Sound was awful for a couple days off and on. Then on the way to dealer it stopped and haven't had a problem with popping since. This was about eight months ago. Did something get wet?
Thank goodness for this great forum! Good Luck
