This is done by inserting DISC #1 (East?) and then driving around (up to 50-100 miles???).. it should auto-calibrate...

After leaving the system on and it has located enough satellite signals and shows "GPS OK" in the top right hand corner of the screen, it will tell you to load the CD, finish all the settings and as you drive it will figure itself out.
You know you are in trouble when the nav unit asks you for directions.

Re: nav went south toward Obama
My NAV system recently starting malfunctioning. It is no longer picking up a satellite signal. When I press the satellite button, it reads back with a big "0". Any ideas as to the solution? Faulty receiver? It's an SRT-6 with less than 10,000 miles..
I already tried the reset, and that changed nothing. Also, the North arrow does not point north, as makes sense if it is not picking up a satellite signal

Nav went south toward Rush's Viagara stash :p
Send your NAV radio to Glenn Beck University! That should set it reicht!
If that doesn't work, you could always talk a programmer into writing an app for your Android phone to simulate the NAV radio's text-based display, put the out of date map database in the cloud and make it constantly link to it...
Maybe you could even arrange to get kickbacks from AT&T for a percentage of the data overages

Or was it Gary Johnson's Maui Wowie?
Or you could buy a Dell Streak, FM modulator and a vent mount.
That way you could navigate, call and stream $hit kicker music to your stereo all at the same time.
I've got the Streak, am looking for a decent vent mount, and will get a radio that will accept an AUX or USB direct connection.
But if you beat me to the punch, you could share the results with the board.
PS: Same thing can be done with the IPhone if your eyes are good.

Nooooooooo......
I'm sorry for anyone who owns one, but it is the worst possible smartphone out there. I mean honestly it is like holding an iPad to your ear to make a phone call...Doesn't fit in your pocket, just all around awkward.
Sorry, that was completely OT, but as a fervent supporter of Android, and despiser of all things iPhone. I cannot with good conscience let anyone buy anything subpar. Android FTMFW!
ok, back on topic...
Streak
The Streak definitely divides folks, but I didn't want to splurge for both a phone and a tablet.
And it does both jobs good enough for me. I've read ebooks on it comfortably and can navigate this full site easily. The screen's the perfect size for viewing a map in your car. I'd like a better nav app but I'm patient...
If you're worried about the size, you could always just use a Bluetooth earpiece and keep the phone in your pocket.
Speaking of size, it's a relative thing. I remember the time when the phones were the size of car batteries. I almost bought one about the time the Motorola came out with one the size of a carton of cigarettes and 4 times the weight.
Tuna, I only paid $49 for minez at Best Buy...
And Z, mine fits in my shirt pocket perfectly.
