Remote Start 2 way Manual transmission
Remote Start 2 way Manual transmission
Hey guys just got a new system installed in my car and i am loving it. I chose the viper 5901 remote start/keyless and alarm system with sst which gives almost a mile range.

we were able to have the heated seats on seperate channels so i could select which one to trigger and it will disable as soon as the car see's the key is inserted into the ignition. I have installed dual sirens in the hood, siren inside the car, door triggers, hood trigger and trunk trigger along with a radar sensor to trigger the alarm if my windows are down and someone reaches into the car. installed a backup battery and have the alarm tucked away hard to reach area. We were able to install the alarm led in the switch panel to turn the headlights on right beside the fog light led in the open spot looks oem.
The remote start being a manual has a special sequence where the alarm needs to see you hit the brake and pull the ebrake. Then click remote start on the remote and exit the car and hit lock. if the sequence is followed then the car will start. we were not able to hook up the defrost as it needs a 6 volt and is probably controlled through the can bus system. they do not make a bypass for our car specifically and need to use the universal bypass where i loose the key. My installer believes at the CES they will come out with a module that will work with the newer systems and be able to trigger defrost and not have to give up our key. At the same time i got my gps mirror installed

hard wire the radar detector, install the laser jammer

i plan to go back on saturday to finalize the installation, install my bluetooth handsfree kit, and my HID ballast. I got a tint strip on the windshield but it is too low and they are planning to rip it off and re do it to my specs.

Re: Remote Start 2 way Manual transmission
why can't we leave the car on the e-brake, i have remote started the car and triggered my heated seats and when i go out the engine is almost up to temp and the cabin is nice and toasty and seats are warmed up. i understand when we are on a hill or a slope than we should leave it in gear or reverse and if that is the case than i will just trigger the heated seats instead of remote start. Which reminds me i am going to see if i can trigger the "Rest" function which runs the blower motor and lets it circulate hot air still within the system.

Re: Remote Start 2 way Manual transmission
In extreme cold I've seen the handbrakes freeze, both drum and discs before.
The REST feature is great! I used it 5 times today when running in and out of stores for some quick x-mas shopping. It is a bag man's dream car! It quickly drains the heat from the engine though so if you leave it on for too long its going to start blowing in slightly cooler air until it shuts off.

i plan to only use remote start when i am on a flat surface usually at home or at work. when i am on a slope i throw it in gear and that disables the remote start. On short trips yeah i just hit the rest function gotta love that feature. especially when i was installing the cd player in the car i was able to have heat while working inside the car.
On another note my cabin sensor that looks for motion or change in air pressure inside the cabin kept going off and turned out it was the heater that was still blowing air that was causing it. i reduced the sensitivity and repostioned the mic for the sensor and it works like a charm.
To remote start i have to hit the brake, pull ebrake and hit remote start on the remote. then i exit the car and the car keeps running. this is where the sensor was going off because the car was still on and air was circulating. once i hit lock the car arms and the engine dies.
