Sorry Julie, my experience with this recall has been nothing short of a nightmare. Other owner members brought their cars to have the recall done only to have theirs done incorrectly, causing the air bag light on the right dash cluster to illuminate. Those members were then charged ungodly amounts of money to 'fix' what FCA techs screwed up. I give FCA an F- in 'customer' care. They sure didn't care in my case. And why FCA customer service cannot deal with any matter in email contacts, just phone calls only? Just don't want a paper trail showing the poor service to its customers. A lot more crossfire owners have the same opinion and like experiences, that I have had.

Re: Urgent Takata Airbag Recall Repair
I have got to get mine fixed. But honestly, with the horror stories of "my car was fine, I took it in for the "Free" fix, and they would not release my car till I paid $$$$ for uncovered repairs", I'm afraid to take it in.
Face it, MOST accidents to not involve airbag deployment in a such a way that the airbag saves you. I've had two airbag deployments in my life time, both times, the only (slight) injury I had was CAUSED by the airbag (neither were the defective units involved in this recall).
Not sure it's worth the possible expense.

Re: Urgent Takata Airbag Recall Repair
Took a photograph of the dash with the light out at idle when I dropped it off so when they offered an $800 "deal" I could prove it was not on at same milage on the ticket.
Eventually turned out they did not have the right scan tool to reset the light (see STAR bulletin below). Once they found one and reset the error the light was out again.
ps Mercs need the negative cable on the battery removed before doing anything or they carry on cranky.

Re: Urgent Takata Airbag Recall Repair
Three things you can take from this thread, she/he is not 93, Chrysler was formed in 1925 so Chrysler is 93, Chrysler/Fiat does not care about the Crossfire, is this thread a good hoax?

Re: Urgent Takata Airbag Recall Repair
If they are real, and I'm guessing they are in some form or fashion, then it might be an opportunity to get something "in writing" concerning Chrysler making something right if they mess up the airbag fix...or other things.
Re: Urgent Takata Airbag Recall Repair
Just in case there are some who do not know, the Crossfire is really a rebodied. Mercedes R170/SLK320 (SRT is a SLK32 - AMG leaves the last zero off). was assembled in Germany using Bosch, Siemans, and Mercedes parts. ALso Continental tires.
The entire chassis is the same including the interior and dash. In fact the non-structural bulkhead behind the seats in a coupe is for the hinging mechanism of an SLK Vario roof.
Am fortunate that Florida has a lot of rust free interesting cars & have both a Crossfire coupe and an SLK320. Almost everything interchanges.

Re: Urgent Takata Airbag Recall Repair
After my air bag issue with my durango, I have sworn off all mopars after 50+ years plus my dads cars. Car is fine, the dealerships are rip offs and they wanna charge for issues they cause. I had a 4 week discussion with the service manager BEFORE I DROPPED IT OFF. Sure enough they had to reset the seat belt load sensor and wanted to charge for it, NO had the SM back up that time. If its mopar, its no car, like the product cant deal with computer issues that require the dealers intervention. Screw them going to a MB or Nissan SUV to replace the 14 year old faithful hemi durango.............. Woody

Re: Urgent Takata Airbag Recall Repair
Just as you turn it over to the service guy, take a picture of the dash and airbag lights and point it out to him they are NOT lit. Too many have had theirs returned to them with the light on, to which they (Chrysler) want $$$$$ to reset them. Be careful!
