Default 19" Front Wheels

I daresay this has been covered but I have tried to search with no results... Is there any reason not to fit 19" wheels on the front?

I've just bought a 2006 coupé that needs (amongt other things) the wheels doing and thought it might open up my options a bit to put 19" wheels all round.

Thanks in advance.

While it can be done, it will change the stance and the balance a bit. That can be dealt with by lowering the front a half inch. But really, there are many available wheels in the 19-18 sizes, you should be able to find something that you like.

If you have the right rim and tire you can run 19 without any problems ,,here is a set on one of my srt's and they are for sale. ''
the stock rim 18x8.5 offset 35 tire is 25.1 tall,,3.6 sidewall ,, 8.6 wide..
this is rim 19x9 offset 40 tire is 25.6 tall 3.2 sidewall,,, 9.3 wide

Amx1397-- if I go with a wider rim on the rear 19x10 , should I reduce the offset from the-stock rim of 25 to 20 on the 19x10 My options that I have on the new rims in the 19x10 size are offsets of 20 or 30. I am looking at STR607's. Thanks in advance.

rear stock offset is 20,, so if your tire is wider than 12.8 it may rub, especially when you hit bumps,,

now with the 30 offset that brings the wheel in ( rear of wheel towards the wheelwell) this is where it rubs not on top. ,,, so a tire that is wider than 12.4 it may rub.

maybe you could ask if they can mount a tire on each rim ,,,lower the car ,,put your fingers at the 1 o clock all the way down to 4 o clock. pos to see how much clearance you have.
you need about 1" for it not to hit/rub.jim

Amx1397. I had a brain fart. I am keeping the same size stock tire so it shouldn't Make a difference right? I am also a weekend warrior of the 1397. I have ran a 68 Dart gts in the F.A.S.T RACING series for years. Best of 11.99@ 115 on bias ply e-70-14 tires as per the rules. Lots of fun!

I too have that type background I ran a AMX in G-stock in the late 60 to 72 for AMC , in fact I held the record for H stock in 1969, well for 24 hours anyway, ran a 12.22 on a Friday and lost the record on sat to a try-power corvette also running H stock LOL,, I mean LOL.. a try-powered corvette vs a rambler LOL,, anyway just to let u know AMX1397= AMX THE CAR,,,1= owned the first production AMX ever made ,,, 397= the total of amx's that i have owned , totaled of cars i have owned is over 1000, raced most of them ,, in the new times( today's world a 12.7 pt cruiser, 10.55 crossfire and a 18.5 Camry,, and a 2.0 turbo 2016 fusion,, that i haven't taken to the track yet. (wife's car)
also in 68 69 ,,, my friend had a 68 dart, 340 /275 hp vs my amx 343/ 280 hp,, we ran each other every week. ,one week he would win,,the next week i would win those were the fun days.
as for your tires,, the stock size front is 25.1 front, with a 8.5 wide rim,,, and 26" tall rear, with a 9.5 wide rim when u go to 20's you could run on the front ,225/30-20 @25.3 tall , or 235/30-20 but your 20" on the front get a rim no wider than 9.5 on the rear you can go 10.5 wide, hope this helps. jim

Jim it helps a ton thank you. My GTS stock ran a best of 13.76@109. The 11.99 was with a stroked 340 (416ci). Always loved the AMX 68 and 69 my favorites, and almost bought a couple but Could never seal the deal.
