Default Air Filter Crumble

I purchased a SRT 6 with 5300 miles. The previous owner maintained a good file on service records and the car was certainly maintained. However, after taking the air filters out and inspecting, they didn't seem to dirty but I began to realize they were super brittle. Check out the picture. The element is so brittle that if I pressed down on the filter it just crumbled. The filters are stamped AMG with a MB part # and also carry a Mann Part . They just may be original!

Yes, those are most likely 11 year old original filters. You can purchase K.&N. drop ins for replacement. Or even better, check out Needswings.com for a whole new upgraded system.
Congrats. on purchasing an incredibly low mileage SRT6!
