My mother was born in London in 1910 and saw one over where she lived in Wood Green during the war, she was gazing at it in amazement when a shopkeeper dragged her inside. Twenty five years or so later I was with my mother when we saw a V1 overhead while we were out shopping, I was in awe and my mother terrified when the engine stopped, this time she dragged me into a shop. I do not think that the roof and walls of the shop would have saved us if it dropped on us. It fell to earth maybe a mile from where we stood. I could take you to the exact spot I saw it from, you remember things like that, even though I was about four at the time.
