Default stripped key way/lug bolt --- wanting to change tires

Any suggestions how to get the "special" luig bolt out if the key way is stripped? the other 3on the other wheels all come out fine, but one isnot letting it bite enough to unturn and take the tire off.

I thought of using the bolt extractor kit, but realized the "special" lug bolt has a ring that spins around it.

I have contemplated tacking a nut on the head of it. Any thoughts or suggestions to get it off?

If it's torqued to the recommended 81 ft/lbs, you 'may' be able to tack a nut on it, but I would think the heat required to do that might effect the alloy wheel.
Might be best to drill a good size hole in the center and use a big ez-out, or big enough for a left hand thread tap and bolt.

We used to take a dremel tool and cut a few slots around diameter and slip a couple nails in the slots and use a socket over the nails to remove.

I have not dealt with this problem myself, but I do recall reading where others have suggested forcing (hammering) a regular socked onto/around it. The idea is to have the socked compress the outer ring of the security lug bolt so that it does not spin freely. Doing this will very likely damage the socket, but it would be worth it to get the security lug out. A cheaply made socket is likely to split when hammering it on and may not work.

This has cropped up before, I'll search.
Look at thread, Locking Wheel Nut Remover, the answer lies there.
The easiest way is to go to a tire store, as many carry the tools to unscrew the many busted studs. They also carry the coded sockets that take off the studs where the key does not exist.

we do this all the time,,, just get a socket that almost fits and hammer it on then remove the lock,, knock the lock out of the socket when off the car save the socket for next time,,
note!!! if the socket is too small it will crack.. let everyone how long it took to remove LOL jim
