Will this siren "chirp" ?
Will this siren "chirp" ?
I have a 2004 coupe with auto transmission.
I have to replace my alarm siren because the circuit board is fried to a crisp.
The fried board never "chirped". I already have the $5 mod mentioned in the PDF's. But I want my replacement board to chirp.
According to the search function, I can get the chirp if I replace my toasted siren with #51244443AA. The problem is; I cannot find a source for the AA version of the siren.
My search also mentioned MB part# A219 620 3226 as a suitable replacement. I can find this siren at several sources, but none of them can answer if this siren chirps.
I've been to Benz World, SLK 320, and other sites but no one can tell me if 3226 chirps.
Does anyone on this forum know if the MB- 3226 chirps?
Thanks

Re: Will this siren "chirp" ?
Thanks for your response Ed.
The reason I passed on the "AB" rather than the "AA" is because several of the archive postings led me to believe that if I wanted a chirp I would need to replace the AB with an AA.
Let me look that posting up again so you can see where I'm coming from - Thanks

Here is one of the archive entries that caused me to believe that the "AA" was the way to go for a chirp.
That was an old post. It is my understanding that the AA has now been replaced with the AB - which has no chirp.

The old part was $70 or so, the new part is $140 or so and it chirps.
5124443AA seems to be the way to go though looking at the other posts and later threads.

Re: Will this siren "chirp" ?
Thanks for the info 180.
I've found several vendors that advertise the AA version, only when I get to the payout page the item they are going to ship me is the AB version. And none of the vendors can tell me if their AB will chirp.
Am I haveing fun yet? You bet. If I wasn't doing this I'd probably be in some cheesy bar getting drunk or something. TIC - Tongue In Cheek.

I think 5124443AB is a mod to the 5124443AA part.
The numbers of the old part were different (56038724AB).
Note that the old and new part numbers before the AA or AB are different, so not the same part.

Re: Will this siren "chirp" ? (My "Thank You")
Just a note to thank forum members Ed Mahoney and onehundred80 for your help with the siren alarm that chirps.
It arrived today. I installed it today. And it chirps!
I now know for a fact that MB part# A219 620 3226 does chirp.
One chirp to lock and three to unlock.
Wheee !
Oh, by the way - this new siren had a metric stud on the back . My old siren had a screw that you needed to install from the engine side of the firewall into the siren which was on the other side. Just fussy trying to line everything lined up while bent over the fender. The stud is much easier.
Again, "Thanks" guys.

Re: Will this siren "chirp" ?
Ed Mahoney and onehundred80:
Sorry for the delay - this site keeps throwing me off.
Yes - I used onehundred80's recommendation on post #12, although the invoice was from Drive Auto Parts LLC out of Tampa Fla. the ordering site was the same as supplied by onehundred80.
The part cost was $131.95. Maybe there were cheaper options, I just figured onehundred80 knew what he was talking about.
I did not like paying a shipping and handling charge of $17.92 for a total bill of $149.17 - however, the part was delivered very fast and the part was genuine MB.
Since the car was down with the windscreen grille removed, I took the opportunity to install my NeedsWings catch can and tidy up the engine compartment.
This was a hoot.
Thanks guys.
