Backup/rear camera?
Re: Backup/rear camera?
Our "kid" wouldn't get one either, unless they worked and earned the money themselves. Wife put back-up sensors on hers when new (option, installed by dealer back in 2005)
Re: Backup/rear camera?
What are the concerns with a crossfire being a first car? It is an automatic, relatively safe, can only haul one friend at a time.....cost me only $9k with 42k on the clock. I have done the sticky key fix, checked the relay module,(ok), swapped the rear diff. Tires are relatively new. It is an NA so not all that fast. My concern is the bad rear vision and blind spots. Why is this a poor choice for a first car? BTW, my daughter is consistently on the principal's honor roll, has many interests in and out of school including, fast pitch softball, archery, art and dance. She's quite the busy gal and I'm proud of her. I'm not stuck on the crossfire as her first car and will listen to reason and would replace it with another car if those reasons are compelling.

BTW, I don't want to distirb the factory head unit. I will probably mount a screen with velcro somewhere on the dash and use that existing hole behind the rear license plate for wiring the camera and the remote will live in the rear hatch. Still have over 18 months to make it happen.
Re: Backup/rear camera?
I'd still argue it's a little sporty for a teen... Especially considering it tops out at over 150MPH. This is the first car I've owned that I haven't pinned at the speed limiter. At 16-22, I would have. Then again, I'm a guy, the majority of women I know aren't speed demons.

Re: Backup/rear camera?
Very good point, and with room for only two it should be safer, fewer distractions also. Never had "kids", just known many who were rewarded for something with a "first car", then proceed to trash or wreck it. Your daughter may well be an exception, especially if she shows a keen interest in maintaining it well. I'm almost 60 and still remember all the hours worked at 17, to buy my first, a 4 year old 67 Mustang, my pride and joy for many years. Best wishes in any case.

Back-up sensors were Chrysler accessory, not "option", probably hundreds still sitting on warehouse shelf somewhere. Part 82208246AD; might be available cheap? Not too noticeable, either. just my .02
