What transmission Oil/Fluid to use
What transmission Oil/Fluid to use
For Crossfire w/6 speed manual I have the following recommendations from four vendors:
From Royal Purple - For your 2006 Chrysler Crossfire’s’ manual transmission we actually have 3 recommended fluids you can use. The crossfire can use a 5W-20 engine oil in the transmission, or a fluid meeting the MB 236.2 specification (which is a ATF). Listed below is the Royal Purple recommended fluids that will exceed the specifications requirements for your manual transmission.
Royal Purple Synchromax (part #01512, quart bottle) *best choice
Royal Purple XPR 5W-20 (part #01011, quart bottle)
Royal Purple HPS 5W-20 (part #31520, quart bottle)
From AMSOIL - For the manual transmission, the AMSOIL 5W-20 Synthetic Engine Oil (product code ALM) is recommended. The AMSOIL ALM meets all the specifications this transmission calls for, and will provide excellent protection and performance.
From MOPAR - Your vehicle takes Manual Transmission Lubricant Part # 4874464. Your transmission is model NSG370, taking 1.9 Qts. to completely fill from empty
From Mobile 1 - Mobil does not have a suitable ATF for your vehicle
Any experiences or thoughts about these lubricants?

Re: What transmission Oil/Fluid to use
go to Mercedes and get 5 qts of 722.6 trans fluid for a flush, for a full fill from empty you would be in the 12 qt range with the converter
we also have the fluid, filter, gasket, seal, clip and dipstick combo on our website, I think I only have it listed for the srt6 but it will be the same for the limited and base models
the only other fluid to get would be directly from shell, I would not recommend getting fluid from anywhere else

Update:
From Penzoil
Dear Consumer,
Your manual states:
Manual Transmission Fluid Type
No fluid service required. Only use fluid approved to MB 236.2. SAE 5W-20 engine oil, meeting API SL or GF-3, may be substituted.
Our Pennzoil Synchromesh does not meet the MB 236.2 specs. Thus, we cannot recommend using our product for your manual transmission. You will need to purchase it from your dealership.
