I first cover the alternator with some plastic to avoid water from entering it
Water hose from the house to spray it entirely while engine is cool to rinse away any dust
Drive it awhile to warm it up and dry it off
Griot's Black Satin Spray Coating for all black plastics and hoses etc
If you have an oil / grease build up use "Simple Green Degreaser Spray" and allow to soak for 5 to 10 minutes before rinsing off
