The SLK cover is the same as the OEM Chrysler one when it comes to the filter size, that would be the filters that have the thickness stepped. So no increase in the air available to the engine.
The cover in this thread does fit and uses the larger air filters that I have for sale. The paper filters I'm selling came in one of these covers and the K&N filters came in a cover that fitted but rubbed against the hood liner. I used these K&N filters until I got a deal on a new pair.

Sorry to see that, hopefully they repair instead of total. I was bustin *** down this hilly, curvy two lane country road about a month ago in my roadster. I came around this 80 degree turn and there standing on the opposite side of the road was a group of about 7 or 8 of them. Luckily none were in my lane because there was no way I would have been able to stop. I slowed down after that.

Thanks Franc for the pic comment, always appreciated.

The slk320 engine cover I ordered shipped and just realized I still need the front half so I just ordered it everything will be here Nov. 9th I had installed the K&N filters in the Crossfire engine cover so take them out and install in the SLK cover its getting xpensive just to make the engine look better.

I thought the SLK320 cover was a one piece item, am I wrong with that assumption?

As far as I understand it is a 2 piece unit, also it seems their 2 engine covers for the SLK320 so I started checking K&N filters and they show 33-2181 which is the very large one and they also show the smaller one 33-2185 which is the same size as the Crossfire uses. Since I had bought the 33-2181 for the cover I had bought is for a v8 engine, so I was going to return the 2 larger filters so now I will wait until the SLK320 units get here next Monday will know then which filters will fit. the numbers that I will get are- front A112 010 0467 rear # A112 090 1101 which I believe will use the much larger filters about 2 and a half times larger as the Crossfire filters. MUCH CONFUSION will know next Monday.

I am more confused than ever Im new to the Crossfire have had mine for 13 months and wanted to go with the Mercedes SLK 320 engine cover I had wanted to start a stickey on this subject but was unable to?/ it seems a lot of other people wanted to do this bur no clear cut instructions as a how to. I read that one person used the W220 so I bought this unit , it looks just like the SLK320 unit but is too big? lengyh and width is the same as the Crossfire but does not fit. So got on the internet looking for mercedesSLK 320 engine covers the front nose piece it seems to be for the E320 only found this out after recieveing shipping notice? it seems the only one that says SLK320/Crossfire I just hope the latest parts that I have bought will fit???

Yes after I had paid for what I had ordered, the site you show the price is $275.00 had I seen your site first I would have paid the $275.-- so far I have spent ^60.00 for nose piece do not need plus $92.00 for the W220 unit which I will trash. The SLK 320 unit I just received I paid $151.0 including tax free shipping good deal the filters are the samr as the Crossfire so I will use theK&N filters I installed in the Crossfire box live and learn had this been a stickey it seems a lot of people want to change the SLK320 engine cover.

I'm sure it could be had cheaper than the Ebay link I provided.. it was just for information and "pictorial" emphasis..as it was the first one to "pop up" ..

I can think of only one other person who wanted the SLK320 box on their car, everyone else wanted the same look as you but opted for the larger box which held bigger filters. The bigger air box costs the same, the filters about the same and with another $150 or so for a larger MAF and throttle body the combination would give a bit better performance. All this is in a few stickies, you decided to go in another direction, so you write it up and maybe it will become a sticky, I doubt it because it is a rarely used method. This thread listed all the part numbers and yo ended up buying something different anyway.
Is the SLK320 box a two piece box or not, just for the record.

The box I installed is a one piece unit exactly the same as the stock Crossfire unit, I would much rather have had the box with the larger filters I had bought the K&N larger filters now today I will send them back. I thought the w220 box with the larger filters but the box doesn't fit? or did someone find a way to make it fit?? The box I just installed is a one piece exactly the same as the stock unit I just removed the filter housing and installed it on the SLK box as they are exactly the same.
