Then we put a good washing on the engine bay and exterior of the car ( I washed, he fixed the crack in my intake tube ). Then I waxed it while he restored my headlights back to showroom quality. All together it was a good day. Got to ride in his super loud roadster, and even met his dog that was almost taller than me. The only drawback was my brake problem coming back 30 mins from home, and me leaving the brake caliper socket I bought for the job. No worries though. He taught me how to do the brakes and a bunch of other stuff on the car, so I am super happy with the outcome of the trip. Thanks again Max!!

Today I detailed the engine bay and entire car and loaded the necessary supplies needed for a weekend getaway to the Woodward Dream Cruise near Detroit, Michigan.
Departure time 6:00am tomorrow morning
This will be my 9th time attending the annual event which began for the Crossfire group back in 2007

Woodward Dream Cruise & GTG - August 15, 2015 - Michigan

I still have issue looking at a Hyundai in the Merc/BMW price range.

I waited ten years and checked into them again. $13,500.

In retrospect it would still have been a screaminly good buy.

Donated the rcm from the coupe to the srt to see if the chk eng light would go off and it did. Found a box and some foam in prep to send to have repaired. When it returns, I will repeat the process to the second rcm....Peace

It sounds like Max is the MAN! Go Max! War Tide! Roll Eagle! (j/k, only SEC fans will get it) I went to a car show, stopped at a local hardware store to ask about a black coupe I've seen out back, it turned out to be Kevin's, the Service Manager. He said it was a 2007 (base model) with 40k miles, I told him about the forum and he said he was going to look it up and register.
When I got back from the show I put the XF in the garage and dropped the exhaust pipes to repair the cat, which developed a leak a week ago, bad thing was the cat was split totally, so I have to figure out the angle of connection so I can weld it back together tomorrow, enough work for a Saturday, time for a drink and swim. All the bolts came loose pretty easy, got to love southern cars, no rusty, broken bolts. (Sorry, lousy phone pics)

Backed mine up on the ramps today so that I could slide under there and clean off some grime, it was actually pretty clean. Did a few other minor detailing items to make sure it's ready for a show tomorrow.

Took it to that show I mentioned and won one of the Top 25 in the Post 1980 class. That makes 3 for 4 so far this year with XF.

Didn't plan it this way but, I was parked behind this. He also won a Top 25.

Welded my broke cat, and decided to decat the rear cats, tried to do one from the back to see if it would work for both of them, didn't work. So I cut the other one off to get to it from both ends, there's some rock wool type stuff in there with the cat grid,I'm still kind of itchy now. Take a metal rod and hammer it out, helps to have a fan blowing on you, but I still got some fibers on me. My welding skills are not real good, had to patch a small leak with JB Weld after I bolted everything together. My phone died or I would have more pictures.

That old cat material is worth $$$ depending on its amount.

Yes, it is a real 1955 MG TF 1500, it came from Birmingham according to the seller, his dad bought it when he was in Mom's belly in 1962, I'm surprised he decided to sell it but he's a mechanic, and didn't want to put it together after wrenching all day. It's been disassembled and painted, needs finished/bolted back together, includes new interior seat covers/door panels kit, that and dash, chrome trim need installed, should be a fun driver.

I kept the cat material, wonder where would be a good place to sell it?

Gotta love the simplicity of those 'A' engines.

What cc is it? About 900?

Now a days with fancy sockets and wrenches that fit anything it may be easier to put together. I can tell you my Dad had fits trying to find all the Wentworth tools he needed for his. They're a completely different kind of motoring and unexplainable to people that haven't had the opportunity to be in a British 50 to early 60's roadster.

Oh yeah, cats … gotta stay on topic. My 4 cats are in the closet in case I want to go back to stock one day.

It's 1466 cc, as the TF 1500 indicates. I think the older TA-TD's were 1250 cc, so this is the SRT version.
A local friend of mine has a TD.

Back in 1961-62, I ran deliveries for our local drug store in the owner's MG 1600 Competition Edition, brought from England by an Air Force Major and sold to him.
It had a GULP! 5 speed transmission, twin cam engine, straight dual pipes, steel knock-offs and no windshield. ( Had to wear my motorcycle helmet ).
It self immolated one day ( I wasn't driving ). He replaced it with a Austin Healy 3000 with electric overdrive. At least it had a windshield !
