Here's a great price for the same updated Bosch model 10 pump your mechanic is referring to...w/ free ship. Same place I got mine!

Mercedes Auxiliary Water Pump - Bosch (OEM) 0392022010 | FCP Euro

Here's a link that shows the steps for removal of the pump. Even though this is for the Johnson CM30 swap, just unplug the old Bosch and install/plug in the newer Bosch 10. No need to cut the plug as you would with the CM30 install. Simple plug & play. You can pretty much DIY or just show a reputable mechanic the pics and he should be able to do the swap in no time for a decent price.

If you are mechanically inclined and have access to the right tools, you can do it yourself for under $100 !!!

I bought two from Autohaus in AZ. Black one was bad (about 1/2 cracked off) and the graphite for preventative maintenance (turns out it was fine). Took me about an hour and was careful not to leak any fluid, so no need to burp the system. This is an easy fix if you're even slightly mechanically inclined.

Not knocking Needswings but they can be exorbitantly high on some items. With shipping you'll be paying over $150 for their pump which doesn't state if it's the updated Bosch or the original OEM replacement. And I didn't need the harness when I replaced mine. Save yourself over $50 for the FCP Euro one @ $96.95 w/ free ship, which is definitely the updated Bosch #10.

Heck, the money I saved buying the FCP one payed for my Jones "X-pipe" ($45.00) and still saved money!

2.25" Stainless Steel X Pipe
Thanks for the tip, I have just received mine, $130 shipped to Canada.
I'm replacing the OEM one before it crashes and burns.
I have a used Johnson pump as a spare as well but I decided to go with the newer Bosch
model.

The NeedsWings pump is the same model as this one.
