Default "Handcrafted" plate for SRT6 Supercharger

I did some checking on a plate that would attach to the top of the supercharger where AMG puts "their" handcrafted plate. Some of us checked with Karmann and Chrysler to find if we could find the name of the employee who assembled our engines (the builder signs the AMG plate) and were met with dead ends.

I came up with this "generic" design which could be used on any SRT 6. I think it would look very nice on our superchargers. The plate is aluminum and we would have to find some adhesive to secure it. They will take about 3-4 weeks to get back once they are ordered. Anyone interested? Cost would be $15-20 plus shipping (can't be much).

Here is an image of the "virtual" plate and another of the area under the engine cover it would be affixed. Click on the thumbnail to enlarge.

SRT SIX,

Count me in. I think that the plate looks awesome. If Karmann and Chrysler won't support us, we will just have to take matters into our own hands.

I'm in. But please note that Karmann is located in "Osnabrück" and that there is no letter "e" in the name. Thanks for taking this initiative.

Thanks maxxm,

Drop the "e" add the umlaut (sp) over the "u".

The order hasn't been placed yet, so no problems.

here is the updated image with the corrected spelling for Onasbruk. It will be 2.5" square in aluminum with black text. Cost will be $18 each. I will be ordering early next week with roughly a 3 week delivery. Please let me know if you would like to get one.

I just need a list of who wants them. We can arrange for payment after I get them.

I would like a plate too. Would it be a problem if my plate could say Handcrafted by AMG with everything else the same except drop the Daimler Chrysler part on the plate?

I'd like one too, but I'd also like the DC part dropped. This is an engine plate and DC had nothing to do with the hand built AMG power plant our SRT has inside them. The frame and basics on the car are all SLK, the drive train, suspension, brakes, transmission, are all reworked or hand built by AMG. The body design is by DC and not much else. It might seem like a picky little thing, but the plate on the AMG SLK32 is all about the engine and who built it. I'd like this plate to be more along that line, after all, these are only for the SRT-6.

Just my thoughts.

I'll take one either way, but I'd still like the DC part removed.

On the SLK the line reads Mercedes - AMG. I think it appropriate to list Daimler Chrysler - AMG for the SRT6.

The artwork and setup charge has been paid for.

I expect to have them in 4 weeks.

I have on the list

1. AF Col
2. maxxm
3. nolexfire
4. kjmurphy
5. Monsterpost
6. Gingerbread Man

Anyone else please let me know as soon as possible.

Exactly what do you think AMG is? It's a wholly owned subsidiary of MB and therefore DCX. They did not design the SRT engine. The only engine they ever designed is the new 6.3 (actually 6.2 liter) engine making it's marketing debut on the '07 model year vehicles.
They have tuned the existing MB engines but never created their own before this new plant.

I expect the first batch in next week...but I am traveling. So as I am impatient, I made a mockup of the plate and placed it on the blower. Please realize the aluminum will show much better than my "aluminum" colored paper mockup.

For those that are on the "list" for these plates, I want to test it a bit before I ask you to pay for them. My chief concern is discoloration because of heat (the supercharger gets VERY hot). I also want to find the best adhesive. Please be patient, I will give an update as soon as possible.

There are 9 available (most spoken for) in the first batch. If you are interested in getting one and have not yet notified me, let me know and I will order more.

BTW I have done much the same thing with the Crossfire dash plaque as well. You might want to check that thread.

SRTSIX,

Can't wait to see the real thing. I just hope that it is able to stand up to the heat from the supercharger.
